Drug Free Treatment
In this generation, pain relief is in high demand. People look for relief for neck pain, back pain, knee pain, migraines and more. The most common solution is going to see a primary care doctor where they will prescribe pain medication such as advil, tylenol, or acetaminophen. A new study suggest that seeing a chiropractor which uses hands on spinal manipulation, other alternative treatments, and even doing the slighest exercise can be more effective.
A new research published in the Annals of Internal Medicine discovered that even the most effortless exercises done at home were more suitable for reducing pain, rather than taking any pain killers. Neck pain and lower back contributes to the most frequent visits to the doctor’s office. Physica therapy and spinal manipulations are believed to be a more adequate solution for pain relief.
A recent experiment sent a group of people to go visit a chiropractor, one group to take pain medications and another group to just go see physical therapist where they would do basic exercises. After 12 weeks, the non medication group did significantly better than those taking medication. Most of those who went to see a chiropractor or physical therapist reported to have felt 75 percent of reduced pain compared to the ones on drugs. Another downfall for the group that were taking medication, some people reported taking a higher dose of medication to cope with the pain that they were feeling.
At our Move Well MD office, our focus is letting the body heal itself rather then taking so medication to try and comfort the pain. We use spinal manipulations, physical therapy, acupuncture, and massage therapy to help with any complaints a patient may have.
