Platelet Rich Plasma! Are you a Candidate?

Have you ever injured a knee, shoulder, joint, or anything that involves movement? Are you in pain and wish it could all be over? New treatment has arrived called platelet rich plasma therapy, also known as PRP. This treatment therapy can speed up the healing process by manipulating your body’s own restorative abilities.

PRP Therapy can treat:

Platelet-rich plasma therapy has become a popular treatment for various injuries. It is a technique that speeds up the body’s self-healing capabilities. PRP involves drawing blood, placing it through a centrifuge which separate’s and concentrates the platelet count, then reinjection of the rich plasma at the point of injury.

These are some conditions that PRP Therapy can treat:

· Tendonitis/Tendon injuries

· Ligament and muscles injuries

· Arthritis

· Jumpers knee

· Shoulder injuries/ torn rotator cuffs

· Pulled hamstrings

· Tennis elbow

· Back and spine

The injections can help reduce inflammation at the joints, and in some cases even enable new cartilage to grow. Pain relief starts to occur within three to four weeks after the injection, and continues to improve over a period of three to six months.

PrP and PrFM:

“When doing these procedures, we utilize the patient’s own blood and a specialized centrifuge, which can concentrate the platelet layer from the plasma seven times the normal amount. This results in plasma, which is rich in platelets hence the term “platelet rich plasma” or PRP. PrFM is a PRP suspension of plasma, in which we add certain chemical, which activates the clotting cascade and gives at the form of fibrin gel matrix. This is typically used as a scaffold to hold either stem cells or exosomes in place longer. While PRP can be used as a stand-alone therapy, it’s no secret that when used as a follow-up to allograft regenerative therapy, or concurrently with exosome therapy, the results are more dramatic. PrFM is generally used at the same time as exosome therapy into a joint or intravenously, to allow the therapy to linger in the injected area for a longer period of time before either the cells, or the exosomes traffic out into the system, where they will continue to exert their effects. The PrFM helps to concentrate the area with the regenerative medicine and allows the regenerative effect to have a “second home” in the injected area. Also, the PrFM gel cushions

the articular surfaces of joints and attracts your body’s own macrophages and stem cells. In the beginning, following injection into a joint, these products cause a brief reaction where they “stir the pot” of your immunity, and cause certain types of white blood cells to gather and this leads to a debridement of scarring in the joint, prior to initiating the healing/reparative phase. “
